The Shoebill has a big spot in my heart. It is a quiet, solitary bird from Africa. This pastel and charcoal sketch is of a Shoebill chick. I think my heart would break if I saw this little guy with my own peepers.
And that is a wrap! Day Thirty's photo was taken at Oliver Nature Park in Mansfield, TX earlier this summer. The labeling of each drawing evolved during the project. In the bottom left-hand corner is the sequence number of the drawing within the 30-day time frame and the location of where the reference photo was taken. My take away from this particular project was having the opportunity to spend more time with a special moment I had in nature. It allowed me to marvel at the intricacies of the plants and animals around us.
